Just like UConn men's basketball commit Alterique Gilbert, UConn women's basketball commit Crystal Dangerfield has been named to the game as well. Dangerfield is averaging 23.4 points for her Blackmon High School team.

Gilbert will be the first UConn commit to play in the national all-star game since Alex Oriakhi in 2009. Current Husky Rodney Purvis played in 2012 but was committed to N.C. State.

UConn Men's Hockey Recruiting: USHL Forward Commits to Huskies


Mike Cavanaugh and his staff continue to thrive on the recruiting trail.

On Saturday, the men’s hockey program received a commitment from Alexandre "Sasha" Payusov for the 2016-17 season. Payusov, born in Québec to Russian parents, currently plays with fellow UConn commit Tyson McClellan on the USHL’s Madison Capitols. The 5-foot-11 speedy, playmaking forward has recorded 11 goals and 10 assists through 35 games.

The 2016 recruiting class now stands at 5 players. Along with Payusov and McLellan, UConn has commitments from forwards Will Garin, Ben Freeman, and defenseman Bryan Nelson.

Vanderbilt CB Tre Bell Transfers To UConn


On the day the news that Tim Boyle is transferring, some good news came in for the UConn football program. According to the, Vanderbilt CB Tre Bell has decided to transfer to UConn.Bell played in 11 of 12 games this season and had 14 tackles.

After three years at UConn, starting games in every season, Tim Boyle has been granted his release from the UConn Football program and will be finishing his college career elsewhere.

With sophomore Bryant Shirreffs entrenched as the starter, there wasn't much opportunity for Boyle in Storrs. He showed a lot of character in accepting the backup role and had a big part in getting UConn to bowl eligibility in the win over Houston.

Boyle never really had ideal circumstances to succeed, with any of the three coaches he played for. I hope he finds a suitable opportunity to start somewhere.

Last year's Wooden Award winner, Breanna Stewart, along with her UConn Huskies teammates Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck have been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Watch List by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

Extra Work Helped Gibbs Get Out of Shooting Slump


When he returned from winter break, UConn men's basketball guard Sterling Gibbs spent extra time in gym to help break the slump. It obviously worked as he led the team in scoring in the win over Memphis.

Daniel Hamilton Named To Wooden Award Midseason Top 25


UConn men's basketball sophomore Daniel Hamilton is making noise nationally it appears as he was named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 watch list. He had been previously named to the Preseason Top 50 list. In 15 games this season, DHam is averaging 12.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.

Big 12 Expansion Unlikely After NCAA Vote


The NCAA voted to allow conferences to have a championship game without 12 members as previously required by the rules. This makes expansion for the Big 12 unlikely, as that restriction was a key driver of the realignment possibilities.

This is not great news for UConn fans hoping for a ticket out of the American, but on the bright side, at least two non-UConn teams didn't get plucked out leaving us stuck in a weaker American Conference!
