If you have been to Gampel Pavilion this year for either a men's or women's basketball game, you may have noticed a change in the lighting. They installed new LED lighting before the season that puts the focus on the court. It is a little darker in the seating area to give Gampel that big arena feel.

UConn Goalie Rob Nichols Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week


UConn men's hockey goalie Rob Nichols earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors after going 1-0-1 this weekend against Maine. The junior goalie stopped 82 of 83 Maine shots to help the Huskies earn 3 out of a possible 4 points. Nichols and his teammates are back in action on Friday night when they'll host Vermont at 8:30 pm at the XL Center.

Samuelson Garners Freshman of the Week Honors


For the second time this season, UConn's Katie Lou Samuelson has earned American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors. Her teammate, Breanna Stewart, was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Andre Drummond, Rudy Gay Named Finalists for USA Basketball 2016 Olympic Team


The team will be coached by Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Boeheim and Oklahoma City Thunder assistants Tom Thibodeau and Monty Williams.

The 2016 Olympics will be taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from August 5-21. Men's basketball preliminaries will go from August 6-15 with the quarterfinals taking place on the 17th, semifinals on the 19th and gold medal game on the 21st.
