UConn updates 2024 schedule, adds game with Rice

The Huskies will host Rice in 2024 and visit them for a second time in 2025.

UConn football will face the Rice Owls at Rentschler Field in 2024 and once more at Rice in 2025. The Huskies met the Owls for the first time this past season, leaving Houston with a 38-31 win in October.

This is the result of one game being moved and another game added to the schedule. UConn will host on October 26th, 2024, and make the return visit on October 11th, 2025.

Rice currently plays in the AAC, where it went 6-6 overall and 4-4 in conference play. The program has struggled in recent times, winning three or fewer games from 2016 to 2020, notching four in 2021 and five in 2022.

That upward trajectory has continued, as the Owls won six games in 2023, their highest win total since winning eight in 2014. They’ll be competing in the First Responder Bowl against Texas State on the day after Christmas.

Rice boasts two players on active NFL rosters: Chris Boswell (Kicker for the Pittsburgh Steelers) and Kylen Granson (Tight End for the Indianapolis Colts). Their last first-round pick was back in 1980, Earl Cooper, a two-time Super Bowl-winning halfback.
