As UConn football navigates an offseason in which lots of roster change is expected, the Huskies are retaining safety Malik Dixon-Williams from the transfer portal.

The Florida native announced via Twitter that he’s joining the D’Amelio Collective, implying that he plans to play for Jim Mora’s squad next season. Graham Chamberlain of Rivals has reported that Dixon-Williams’ name is no longer in the portal after he was initially seeking opportunities elsewhere.

After arriving in 2019 and redshirting after making two appearances that year, Dixon-Williams has been a mainstay in the defensive backfield for UConn since 2021. Though the secondary is losing Armauni Archie and Mumu Bin-Wahad, the Huskies will have at least some continuity over there.

Over 20 UConn players from the 2023 roster have their names in the portal. So far, about five experienced players from other colleges have announced their intention to transfer in, and the Huskies have added a high school commitment as well. With the signing period deadline of December 20 coming soon, we’ll know more about the state of the spring roster at that point.
