Sporting News and the AP have named the UConn guard an All-American, making him the first Husky to do it twice.

UConn offensive guard Christian Haynes continues to bring in the accolades. Last week, the redshirt senior was named to the College Football Network All-American team. He’s since been named to the Associated Press and Sporting News All-American teams as well.

Haynes started every game this season, playing a key role in UConn’s offense. The star guard and his fellow linemen allowed just 12 sacks all season and paved the way for a strong rushing attack featuring multiple running backs over the last two seasons. The Bowie, Maryland native will be playing in the Reese’s Senior Bowl showcase event in January and his linemate Noel Ofori-Nyadu is also going pro.

Haynes became the first Husky in the school’s FBS era to earn All-American honors in two separate seasons. He’s just the third UConn FBS player to be named an All-American, joining Jordan Todman (2010) and Donald Brown (2008).
