On Monday, UConn baseball unveiled (most of) its 2024 schedule.
There are 53 games, three short of the 56-game maximum, with the weekend of March 29-31 open. UConn said it may add more games.
Overall, six 2023 NCAA Tournament are on the schedule, while 12 teams were in the RPI top 100.
There are 33 road or neutral-site games on the schedule and the Huskies get started on Feb. 16 against former Big East and American Athletic Conference foe USF, which is hosting a tournament that also features Indiana State (Feb. 17) and another ex-conference rival in Louisville (Feb. 18). Three of these teams were in the same event in 2022, with the Sycamores, which hosted a Regional in 2023, new to the group.
From there, UConn visits Cal Feb. 23-25, followed by a stop to at Auburn, another Regional host last season, on The Plains March 1-3.
The annual Spring Break trip is in Southern California for the second time in three years. This time around, weekend series with UC Santa Barbara (March 8-10) and Cal Baptist (March 15-17) form the bread for a UCLA (March 12) and UC Irvine (March 13) sandwich.
The first regional midweek comes that Tuesday, as UConn heads to Rhode Island for a battle with the Rams (March 19). That’s one of just four road midweek games. The Huskies play Boston College (April 17), Northeastern (May 7), and Cincinnati (May 14) away from home, as well.
The home opener at Elliot Ballpark comes on March 20, when LIU comes to town for one of eight home midweek contests. Boston College (March 26) and Northeastern (March 27) will begin home-and-home series in Storrs, followed by CCSU (April 1), Columbia (April 2), Bryant (April 9), Kansas Satate (April 16) and Hofstra (April 24).
Big East play starts the first weekend in April, when Xavier comes to town for three. It’s a year for UConn to have four conference weekends at home and three on the road. St. Johns (April 12-14), Villanova (April 26-28) and Creighton (May 10-12) will all play at Elliot Ballpark.
Meanwhile, the Huskies will travel to Georgetown (April 19-21), Seton Hall (May 3-5) and Butler (May 16-18).
