UConn men’s basketball will be renewing one of its old Big East rivalries when it takes on the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Big East-Big 12 Battle.
The Huskies will travel to Morgantown, West Virginia on Dec. 8 for the matchup. Though the time and broadcast information is still TBA, ESPN owns the Big 12’s television rights which means the game will likely be on the ESPN family of networks.
The two schools are plenty familiar with each other from battling in the old Big East where West Virginia was a full-time member from 1995 until 2012, when it departed for the Big 12. They met 19 times in that span with the Huskies holding a 15-4 advantage. West Virginia owns the most recent victory, a 78-58 win in the 2014 Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
UConn’s 2021-22 non-conference schedule is beginning to come together. In addition to the trip to West Virginia, the Huskies will travel to the Bahamas to compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis from Nov. 24-26 with Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, Loyola Chicago, Michigan State, Syracuse, and VCU also in the field.
UConn is also expected to open the season against Central Connecticut for the second consecutive year according to Jon Rothstein, though no date has been reported.
These are the rest of the matchups in the Big East-Big 12 battle:
