UConn women’s basketball’s hot stretch on recruiting trail has continued. On Saturday, the Huskies landed a commitment from Ayanna Patterson, the No. 3 player and No. 1 wing in the class of 2022, according to ESPN. She chose UConn over Indiana, Louisville, Notre Dame, and UCLA.
Listed at 6-foot-2, Patterson hails from Fort Wayne, Indiana and plays her high school ball at Homestead and AAU with Ohio United. She’s regarded as an athletic forward that can get to the rim but also hit pull-up jumpers. She’s also strong defensively and on the glass with “off-the-charts potential”, according to ESPN.
Last August, Patterson posted a video of herself throwing down a two-handed dunk.

Patterson comes from a basketball family. Her father Andre played at New Mexico State while her brother Andre Jr. played at UCLA and Tennessee in the early 2000s.
She’s the second member of UConn’s 2022 recruiting class, joining Isuneh Brady, a 6-foot-3 post player ranked No. 5 in the class. The Huskies currently have two open scholarships left for the 2022-23 season.
