UConn women’s basketball assistant coach Shea Ralph is leaving the bubble in San Antonio out of an abundance of caution after a family member tested positive for COVID-19, the school announced on Wednesday. Ralph has tested negative twice in the bubble and every day since March 9.
Whether or not Ralph will return to the team during the NCAA Tournament is to be determined, according to UConn.
Head coach Geno Auriemma also did not travel with the team to San Antonio after testing positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, meaning Chris Dailey and Jamelle Elliot are the Huskies’ only coaches in the bubble. The earliest that Auriemma can join the team is on March 24, after UConn’s first two games.
The Huskies are set to open the tournament against 16-seed High Point on Sunday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
