The UConn Pod: Are we excited for UConn football?

The podcast crew talks about the start of hockey season and goes deep on the revival of UConn football since the coaching change.

NOTE: This podcast was recorded before we found out that Lou Spanos and four other members of the team tested positive for COVID-19.

On the latest episode of The UConn Pod, Aman, Daniel, and Dan open with a chat about the start of hockey season. The Huskies grabbed a 6-3 win over Sacred Heart to kick-off their highly anticipated (by us, at least) 2021-2022 campaign.

Next, UConn Blog football writer Luke Swanson joins us to break down the enormous leap the Huskies have seemingly made since changing their head coach, and also potentially offensive coordinator? At the very least, offensive analyst Noel Mazzone seems to be making an impact for this team, both in playcalling and talent assessment.

Either way, what’s great is that improbably and unexpectedly, UConn football is on the upswing!

And finally, ahead of the football team’s marquee matchup at UMass, we have an interview with Twitter user @CurryHicksSage, who has a podcast that focuses on Minutemen sports. We discussed: Life as an independent, struggles in tackle football, and the best places to eat around Amherst on game day.

Enjoy!
