The 6-foot-10 rising senior is a 200-pound four who can hit the three-ball, especially from the corner, and runs the floor well.
He is ranked No. 86 in his class by 247sports and No. 108 by Rivals. Johnson’s commitment marks the third for Hurley’s 2021 class, which is now ranked at No. 4 on 247sports’ class rankings. UConn’s class is a tick ahead of Ohio State’s and is behind just Florida State, Villanova and Baylor.
The assist on the commitment goes to assistant coach Kimani Young, who also helped get 2020 center Adama Sanogo in the blue and white. Johnson played alongside Sanogo at The Patrick School this past season.
The commitment comes just three days after shooting guard Jordan Hawkins decided to come to UConn and two weeks after Rahsool Diggins kicked off Hurley’s 2021 class.
