UConn football adds sixth (and seventh) 2021 commits

UConn football continued their run on recruiting in the Lone Star State this week, securing the commitment of offensive lineman Yakiri Walker from DeSoto, Texas.

Walker is a behemoth of a man, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing in at over 270 pounds. He’s UConn’s third three-star recruit of the 2021 class according to 247Sports, behind running back Max Modeste and defensive lineman Pryce Yates.

Walker's offers were clearly a step up from most of the other 2021 recruits; the lineman was courted by Air Force, Charlotte, Kansas, Missouri State, Navy, New Mexico, New Mexico State and Toledo before deciding on UConn.

Walker will feel right at home with the three other offensive linemen from the Dallas-Fort Worth area already on UConn's roster: redshirt freshman Chase Lundt, redshirt sophomore Noel Ofori-Nyadu and true freshman Robby Rochester.

Update

In what has become a very productive few weeks for the UConn recruiting staff, the Huskies have added another to the class of 2021: wide receiver Aaron Turner.

The 5-foot-9, 175 pound rising senior from Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C. functions as both a running back and wide receiver on offense. He held offers from Rutgers, Hawaii and Charlotte, and is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals, who have him as the fifth-best prospect in D.C.

UConn is quickly filling out their 2021 recruiting class, with six recruits already and a few more surely on the way as the recruiting staff finishes out their Texas swing.
