With the 2020 NFL Draft set to start (virtually) tonight, former UConn offensive lineman Matt Peart is one step closer to becoming a pro. The 6-foot-7, 318-pound Peart is widely regarded as one of the top 10-15 lineman in draft pool this year and while he likely will not hear his name called Thursday, he’s widely projected to get selected on Day Two of the draft, which covers rounds two and three and begins Friday at 7 p.m.
In other years, Peart would likely go even higher, but he’s part of a strong class of offensive linemen that could see as many as six — and maybe more — of his peers selected in the first round. Fortunately for Peart, the New York native has the measurables to make him an attractive option for teams to develop. He was measured to have the longest arms at the combine and is well-regarded for speed and ability in pass protection.
He might not be as polished as Tristan Wirfs from Iowa or Georgia’s Andrew Thomas, but has all of the physical tools to grow into a stalwart in the trenches at the next level for years to come.
Here’s where numerous experts across the internet expect Peart to be taken in this year’s virtual draft.
