Entering the 2000 campaign, UConn men’s soccer was eager to start its fourth season with Ray Reid at the helm and looking to make some serious noise on the national scene. The Huskies skated through Big East play, going 14-2-2 on their way to the regular-season conference title. After losing in overtime to Seton Hall in the Big East Tournament final, UConn rattled off four-straight wins to make it to the national championship game against Creighton. The Huskies would go on to beat the Blue Jays 2-0 to claim their second NCAA national championship (third overall) and finish their season with a record of 20-3-2.
Rekindle the magic of that historic victory with these highlights:
Today marks the 20 year anniversary of the 2000 UCONN Men’s Soccer National Championship win. The team had an impressive 15 shutouts with a total of 49 goals. The Huskies capped off a magical run with a 2-0 victory in the National Championship game. What a year that was #champs pic.twitter.com/vPBes74hpP
