UPDATE

UConn men’s hockey’s schedule . On Thursday, BU announced a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19, putting a pause on all team activities. Because of that, the matchup between the Huskies and Terriers scheduled for Saturday will be canceled.

UConn is “looking in to other possible options” to play this weekend, according to the school.

Next on the Huskies’ schedule are two games against BC on Dec. 11 and 12 — its final games before the holiday break. However, with the constant postponements and cancelations for Hockey East, it’d be a surprise if those games actually happen.

The original story is below.

UConn men’s hockey will play this weekend after all. Hockey East announced the Huskies will face BU on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Freitas Ice Forum with a 2:30 p.m. start. UConn was initially scheduled to have a bye this weekend and didn’t play last weekend after the University of Maine suspended athletics through Dec. 8.

The Huskies opened the year with two games against UMass on Nov. 21 and 22. UConn lost the opener, but earned a tie (and shootout win) in the second game. BU has yet to play a game this season.

In general, Hockey East’s schedule has been a mess so far. Just four games have gone ahead this season — none of which were originally scheduled. Four programs — Maine, Northeastern, UMass Lowell, and Vermont — are either shut down or have suspended play for the time being.

Last year, the Huskies swept the Terriers in two meetings. In the first game, UConn pulled off a late comeback and defeated BU in overtime, 4-3, before blowing the Terriers out 6-1 in Boston the following day. BU was picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll, one spot above the Huskies.
