UConn men’s hockey will open its season this weekend after all. The Huskies are set to play two games against UMass, according to a Wednesday afternoon announcement from Hockey East.
UConn will make the trip to Amherst on Friday, Nov. 20 for a 6 p.m. puck drop followed by its home opener on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. Friday night’s game will be broadcast on NESN+. These two matchups are expected to count towards the Hockey East standings.
The Huskies were initially scheduled to play their first series against Vermont, but that was postponed after the Catamounts pushed all athletic competition back until mid-December. The Minutemen were previously slated against Maine this weekend.
Other changes to UConn’s schedule — such as makeup dates for the UVM series — are expected to be announced by the school tomorrow.
Hockey East also released its streaming information for the season, which will see every men’s and women’s game either broadcast on NESN or streamed for free on a ViacomCBS platform.
For those watching inside New England, all games that won’t be shown on NESN will be available on CollegeSportsLive.com. For fans outside New England, all games televised on NESN will be available either on SportsLive or CBSSports.com. Hockey East will provide updates on its website each week as well.
The league also released times for most of UConn’s entire schedule, which can be found here.
