UConn to open Big East play against St. John’s on Dec. 11, will play four others in December

UConn will play Georgetown, Providence, Creighton and DePaul in December as well.

The UConn men’s basketball team is set to play five conference games in December, according to a release from the Big East Conference Wednesday.

They are going to play their first conference game against St. John’s on Dec. 11 at Gampel Pavilion, as they first did 31 seasons ago. It will be the Huskies’ first Big East game in the conference after seven seasons in the American Athletic Conference.

According to Big East Conference

Big East Commissioner Val Ackerman also added that the conference is likely to resume on Dec. 30 after a short holiday break. However, the conference is waiting to see how things go with the virus before releasing the schedule for those dates.

The official UConn schedule sits as follows, with more games to be announced:

Dec. 2: One of Vanderbilt Commodores/USC Trojans/BYU Cougars*

Dec. 3: One of Vanderbilt/USC/BYU*

Dec. 11: St. John’s Red Storm at Gampel Pavilion

Dec. 13: At Georgetown Hoyas

Dec. 17: At Providence Friars

Dec. 20: Creighton Bluejays at Gampel Pavilion

Dec. 23: At DePaul Blue Demons

*Not yet officially announced by UConn

There are also rumored games on Dec. 5 against NC State at Mohegan Sun, according to Matt Norlander of CBS. The Dec. 2 Legends Classic contest is also set to be moved to Dec. 1, according to Jon Rothstein.
