With the start of practice just around the corner, UConn men’s basketball released its full schedule for the 2019-2020 season on Friday.
The Huskies first public competition will come against St. Michael’s College in an exhibition on Oct. 30 before beginning the regular on Nov. 8 against Sacred Heart at Gampel Pavilion. UConn will then face St. Joseph’s for the first time since the 2014 NCAA Tournament as part of the Charleston Classic at Gampel on Nov. 13.
On Nov. 17, Florida will return to the scene of Shabazz Napier’s buzzer-beater when it comes to Gampel for a Sunday matinee on ESPN. After that, the Huskies will head south for the Charleston Classic, where they will take on Buffalo in the opening game. UConn will play either Xavier or Towson in the second game of the tournament before wrapping up the tournament on Nov. 24. The opponent for that game is still TBD.
The Huskies will play their first game at the XL Center on Dec. 1 against Maine followed by Iona at Gampel Pavilion on Dec. 4. UConn will play Indiana at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 10 as part of the Jimmy V Classic.
UConn closes the non-conference portion of the schedule with a trio of games at the XL Center against Saint Peters, New Hampshire and NJIT, respectively.

On Jan. 18, UConn will plays its final non-conference game against Villanova for the foreseeable future at the Welles Fargo Center in Philadelphia, the site of another game-winner from Napier.
That game is followed up with a tough road trip down to Houston to face the Cougars on Jan. 23. Then, UConn returns home with Tulsa coming to the XL Center and Temple visiting Gampel Pavilion.
On Feb. 1, Dan Hurley’s squad will visit Penny Hardaway’s No. 1 recruiting class at Memphis, set for 1pm on CBS. After that, the Huskies will get one last chance to earn a win at the Reynolds Center against Tulsa.
UConn will face the Mick Cronin-less Bearcats at Gampel Pavilion on Feb. 9 before going to play SMU at Moody Coliseum on Feb. 12. The Huskies will see Memphis against on Feb. 16 the XL Center prior to hitting the road to face Temple.
Down the home stretch of the season, UConn will play the direction Florida’s back-to-back at home with UCF making the trip to Storrs and USF visiting Hartford. The Huskies close the regular season with three games: Away to ECU, home against Houston before wrapping things up in the Big Easy against Tulane.
Like last season, UConn won’t play a true road game until conference play begins and its only significant road trip during the non-conference schedule is going to the Charleston Classic.
The Huskies’ home games are split down the middle with nine games at both the XL Center and Gampel Pavilion. There’s also one de-facto home game at Madison Square Garden.
Both UConn’s basketball teams will kick-off the season with First Night at Gampel Pavilion on Oct. 18.
