This is Nelson-Ododa’s first appearance for the senior national team. She did, however, win gold with 3x3 USA Basketball earlier this summer and helped Team USA bring home Gold in the U18 FIBA World Cup in 2018. She also won a bronze medal in the 2016 U17 World Cup.
The 6’5” UConn sophomore will join four former Huskies named to the USA Basketball team traveling to Puerto Rico for the tournament. Recent graduates Napheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson, coming off of their rookie WNBA seasons, both made the team. Former UConn stars Tina Charles and Stefanie Dolson were also named to the roster.
Team USA will compete in Group B of the tournament, tipping off on Sunday afternoon against Paraguay.
