UConn football has locked down a series with the kind of regional rival that will be key to life as an independent. The school announced a two-game series with Boston College, beginning in 2022 at Rentschler Field.
Both games will take place in late October — a part of the schedule that can be more difficult for independent programs to fill with conference play in full swing. The first meeting in the series is set for Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium with the return trip to Boston coming Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. These games were originally scheduled for November.
The Eagles have also been reluctant to visit the Rent in the past. During the teams’ last two-game series, UConn played one game at Alumni Stadium on the campus of Boston College and the UConn “home” date was at Fenway Park, somewhat controversially.
The last time the Eagles came to East Hartford was back in 2003, when UConn was in its final year as an independent before joining the Big East. Historically, the Huskies haven’t fared well in the all-time series, holding a 0-12-2 record.
The Huskies now have three opponents set for 2022 (CCSU, at NC State, BC) and four for 2023 (Duke, Lafayette, NC State, at BC).
