Spetz is a high intensity, offensive-minded defenseman without many flaws in his game. Talent-wise, Spetz could play at the college level this season but other things still need worked out off the ice. He should be an instant-impact addition to a veteran Husky team in 2020 with high aspirations.

“Kid is warrior. Built like a tank with high-end skill,” the source said.

A native of Oak Ridge, New Jersey, Spetz currently plays for the Chicago Steel of the USHL. He chose UConn over offers from top schools in the Big 10 and the NCHC — which features the likes of Denver, Minnesota Duluth and North Dakota.
