UConn officially in the Big East. Here’s some numbers that stand out about the Huskies’ move to a new conference.
11 - The number of schools in the Big East, now including UConn. There are seven members left from the old Big East — DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John’s and Villanova — and three newer members: Butler, Creighton and Xavier.

136 - The number of Big East titles (regular season and tournament) the Huskies own in basketball, soccer, field hockey, baseball and softball — the school’s most high-profile sports. Here’s a breakdown of each sport:
- Women’s basketball: 37 (19 regular season/18 tournament)
- Field hockey: 36 (19/17)
- Men’s soccer: 19 (12/7)
- Men’s basketball: 17 (10/7)
- Softball: 13 (6/7)
- Women’s soccer: 10 (8/2)
- Baseball: 4 (1/3)
20 - The number of UConn programs that will join the Big East. Only the school’s ice hockey, rowing and football teams will not.
19.79 - The amount, in dollars, that UConn fans began donating to the school after the Board of Trustees approved the move to the Big East. So many went on to the UConn Foundation’s site that it crashed and later, they put a button on the website so users could click to donate $19.79. The Hartford Guy pitched the idea to Twitter in honor of the Big East’s founding in 1979.
My good friend @TrusteeDaniels has a fabulous idea: We should all give $19.79 to UConn in honor of the year the Big East was founded.

I'll be doing that today and you should too. cc: @NoEscalators @ADimeBack @TheUConnBloghttps://t.co/DGz9eIJgHH
5 - The number of schools in the Big East closer than ECU, the second-closest school to UConn in the American. Or looking at it another way, Creighton is the farthest school in the Big East. Five AAC teams are still farther than that.
The geographic midpoint of the new Big East is Akron, Ohio (Youngstown if you add UConn!). The AAC is Sewanee, Tennessee. pic.twitter.com/Q5JHUNEeyI
