The New Orleans Pelicans announced Monday that it hired former UConn women’s basketball star Swin Cash as its Vice President of Basketball Operations and Team Development.

Cash, who was a member of the Huskies’ 2002 and 2004 national championship teams and the 2004 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, retired from a 15-year WNBA career in 2016. She finished her career playing for the New York Liberty as a three-time WNBA champion and four-time All Star.
Following her retirement, the former UConn stayed with the New York Liberty, joining its front office where she served as the Director of Franchise Development. Cash has also experience in the league serving as a global NBA/WNBA ambassador.
In the Pelicans’ official announcement, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin, sited Cash’s impressive career, noting “Her legendary experience as a player, champion and winner at every level, on and off the floor, represents everything we want this organization to be about”.
