The 2019 Travelers Championship is nigh and with it the Celebrity Pro-Am. UConn is represented well at Connecticut’s big PGA tournament, with seven former Huskies making up the star-studded celebrity lineup.
The list includes heavy-hitters Ray Allen, Jim Calhoun, Randy Edsall, friend-of-the-blog Dan Orlovsky, as well as UConn men’s hockey head coach Mike Cavanaugh, women’s basketball associate head coach Chris Dailey and field hockey coach Nancy Stevens. (Aside: Edsall and Orlovsky are certainly spending a lot of time together on the links this summer.)
Among the non-UConn stars participating are football personalities Chris Berman and Boomer Esiason, Connecticut native and Nashville Predators center Nick Bonino, and Red Sox legend and knuckleballer Tim Wakefield.
There’s plenty of interesting pairing opportunities baked in there, but we won’t know them until just before the tournament on Wednesday, June 19.
The Travelers Championship will be held on June 17-23 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. Most of golf’s big names will be there, including big Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Francesco Molinari, mad-scientist Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Jason Day, Phil Mickelson and defending champion Bubba Watson.
