UConn women’s basketball added a pair of new home-and-home series with the Maryland Terrapins and the Texas Longhorns, according to the Manchester JI’s Carl Adamec. Both series will begin at UConn in 2020-21 before returning the favor in 2021-22.

The Huskies’ rivalry is fairly new, with the two teams not meeting until Dec. 2012, when then-No. 2 UConn comfortably took care of the No. 9 Terrapins 63-48. The Huskies hold a perfect 7-0 record against Maryland, including an 81-54 win in the 2015 Final Four.

Their most recent meeting came during the 2017-18 season, when UConn downed the Terrapins 97-72 at the XL Center. The women’s basketball team’s victory happened at the same time UConn’s field hockey team also defeated Maryland to win the national title.

As for Texas, the Huskies’ hold an 8-0 record all-time against the Longhorns. Their first-ever meeting came in the 2003 Final Four when UConn took down Texas 71-69 en route to their fourth national championship. Since then, the two teams have played three more times in the NCAA Tournament. All-time, the Huskies have only hosted the Longhorns in a true home games just once, way back in 2005 at the then-Hartford Civic Center.

In addition to Maryland and Texas, the Huskies will also face Dayton and Little Rock at home while traveling to face Baylor, Cal, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Virginia in 2020-21. The next year, UConn’s four games scheduled games are all on the road against Maryland, Little Rock, Oregon and Texas.
