UConn Football National Signing Day Additions

Ian Bethune - The UConn Blog

After adding eight players in the early signing period, UConn football rounds out its 2019 recruiting class with the announcement of the following players:

DE Jeff Woods - Fayeteville, NC

A three-star recruit according to 247Sports, Woods announced his commitment to UConn on January 13th over offers from East Carolina and Tulane, among others. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound defensive end also played offensive line and basketball in high school at Trinity Christian High. He had 41 tackles and seven sacks in seven games as a senior.

QB Mike Beaudry - Orlando, FL

Beaudry comes to UConn as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining from Division II West Florida. He committed to UConn on Super Bowl Sunday and is likely to be a leading candidate to start under center, where most of his competition will consist of untested underclassmen. Beaudry helped lead a brand new program to the national championship as a redshirt freshman, and then missed most of his sophomore season due to injury.

WR Kevens Clercius - Montreal, Quebec

Straight from the home city of outgoing Husky receiver Hergy Mayala, Clercius also verbally committed to the Huskies on Sunday and at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds has a similar frame as Mayala as well. He was previously committed to the Huskies before the early signing period but needed to work on his test scores to gain eligibility.

WR Ardell Brown - Rochester, NY

The Huskies added another receiver on National Signing Day in Ardell Brown, who, like Beaudry, is a Division II grad transfer. Brown committed to UConn on January 27th from Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania, where he hauled in 1,267 yards and nine touchdowns on his way to numerous all-conference and All-American honors. He can bring an immediate impact to a Husky receiving unit that is going to be replacing a lot of its top producers from last year.

WR Matthew Drayton - Jacksonville, FL

Standing 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Drayton is a three-star prospect according to Rivals and 247Sports who had an offer from the University of Miami at one point. The Florida native also had an offer from Troy before signing with the Huskies today.

WR Cam Ross

Ross verbally committed to UConn back in July, but didn’t sign until today. The St. John’s College High (DC) product chose the Huskies over offers from Army, FAU, Navy and Toledo.

DE Dal’Mont Gourdine

The Huskies added one more gem to the class with the announcement of Dal’Mont Gourdine, a big pickup who chose UConn over offers from Tulane, Colorado State, and Coastal Carolina. The three-star defensive end rounds out the Huskies’ 20 announced signees for the Class of 2019.

The Huskies will wrap up their signing day with a press conference by Randy Edsall at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
