UConn football OT Matthew Peart named first team All-AAC

The senior has been starting since he was a freshman and is gaining interest from NFL scouts.

It has not been a wonderful year for the UConn football team but one bright point has been the improvement of the offensive line. For that group, senior Matt Peart has been a rock at right tackle. On Tuesday, Peart was named an American Athletic Conference First Team player.

At UConn from Governor’s Academy in Byfield, Massachusetts, by way of Kingston, Jamaica, Peart started all 48 games over his four years as a Husky and was a team captain as a senior. He’ll be participating in the Senior Bowl in January and has emerged as a potential early-round draft pick in this year’s NFL Draft. AT 6-foot-7, 303 pounds, with great footwork and athleticism, Peart could be a fixture on the outside for a team at the next level.
