UConn women’s basketball’s 2022 recruiting class is off to a strong start after earning a commitment from Isuneh Brady, according to her AAU coach. Nicknamed “Ice”, the 6-foot-3 post player from San Diego is rated as ESPN’s No. 3 player in the class. She took an unofficial visit to Storrs back on Nov. 3 to see the Huskies’ exhibition game against Jefferson, per Carl Adamec.
ESPN’s scouting report on Brady describes her as a strong, physical post presence:
Physical and efficient low-post performer brings accomplished interior footwork to the boxes, takes contact and delivers.
At the same time, Brady isn’t glued to the key and is mobile enough to get out on the fast break. With a full complement of skills down low paired with versatility, she appears to fit the Geno Auriemma’s mold for bigs on paper.
With Brady’s commitment, UConn now has three bigs in each of the next three recruiting classes with Piath Gabriel (6-foot-5) in 2020, Amari DeBerry (6-foot-5) in 2021 and now Brady (6-foot-3) in 2022. After handful of seasons from the post-Breanna Stewart years up to this year where the Huskies lacked height and a true back-to-the-basket post player, they will now have an abundance of size for the foreseeable future.
With DeBerry rated as the No. 5 player in her class and Brady as the third-best in hers, UConn will not only have a towering frontcourt but a talented one as well. Add in Paige Bueckers — the No. 1 player in 2020 — in the back court and the Huskies have one heck of a core lined up going forward.
