He believes Tennessee didn’t provide accurate information regarding Westbrook’s situation.
(Update: UConn clarified that the appeal will likely take closer to a week).
Westbrook, a former No. 2 recruit, is one of Auriemma’s best acquisitions in the 2019 offseason. In her sophomore year she averaged 14.9 points and 5.3 assists per game for the Vols. If she were to be eligible to play, she would have added another excellent ball handler and scorer to the Huskies’ lineup.
After waiting through this unreasonably long process, Westbrook will now sit out the 2019-20 season. She will begin playing for the Huskies in 2020-21, with two years of eligibility remaining.
