UConn women’s basketball is ranked No. 3 in the latest AP Poll after losing to Baylor last week. The Huskies still garnered three first-place votes.
UConn claimed the top spot for the past five weeks after knocking off then-No. 1 Notre Dame on their home court by 18 points. The Huskies were the preseason No. 2 team.
Somehow, Notre Dame team re-took the top spot in the poll with 12 first-place votes. They are ranked above UConn — despite the Huskies thrashing the Fighting Irish in South Bend — and Louisville (No. 2) — who is the only undefeated team left in the top five and was the third-ranked team last week.
After taking down UConn, Baylor jumped from No. 8 to No. 4, the spot right behind the Huskies. They received five first-place votes.
The last time UConn was so low in the AP Poll was Week 2 of the 2016-17 season, when they were also in the No. 3 spot.
