In Sunday’s UConn women’s basketball game against South Florida, a 63-46 win, Katie Lou Samuelson scored her 2,000th point as a UConn Husky.

Late in the third quarter, after a steal and assist from Christyn Williams, a layup from Samuelson brought her over the threshold.

Samuelson is just the tenth player in Connecticut history to score 2,000 career points, joining Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart, Tina Charles, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, Nykesha Sales, Kerry Bascom, Diana Taurasi, Kara Wolters, and Rebecca Lobo in that group.

Samuelson has also moved into the top 10 on the all-time scorers list. Rebecca Lobo, who had 2,133 career points, is the next player ahead of her. At her current scoring rate, if fully healthy, Samuelson should surpass Lobo by mid-February.
