WATCH: UConn’s Darrian Beavers Likes Move To Defensive Line

Randy Edsall hopes Beavers can follow in the footsteps of another undersized defensive lineman, Trevardo Williams.

In the Randy Edsall 1.0 era with the UConn Huskies, he had an undersized defensive lineman in Trevardo Williams who had a lot of success and was drafted into the NFL. Now in 2018, Edsall is hoping for the same in Darrian Beavers.

After spending the first two weeks of the 2018 season on the two-deep at linebacker, Beavera was moved to the backup defensive end spot the past two weeks. Now as the Huskies prepare for Cincinnati on Saturday, Beavers is listed as the starter at defensive tackle.

Like Williams, Beavers has speed and should be able to use that to his advantage up front as he gets more reps and experience. For now though, it’s a learning process for him.

Hear what Edsall had to say about the move for Beavers as well as why Beavers likes the change.
