This past weekend, Azura Stevens was named to the 2018 WNBA All-Rookie team after an impressive rookie season for the Dallas Wings. She earned eight of eleven possible votes to be named to the All-Rookie team. A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces), Diamond DeShields (Chicago Sky), Ariel Atkins (Washington Mystics) and Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever) were also selected.

Stevens played for the Huskies in the 2017-2018 season, after transferring from Duke and sitting out the year before. After posting impressive numbers off the bench for UConn, she decided to forgo her final year of eligibility and was drafted 6th overall by the Dallas Wings.

In her rookie season, Stevens averaged 8.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, in just 20.6 minutes per game on the court. She especially excelled on the offensive glass, averaging 1.7 offensive rebounds per game, which ranked in the top 20 in the league and second among all rookies. Her 1.1 blocks per game also ranked second in the rookie class, and 11th in the league.

Stevens also scored in double figures in 17 games for the Wings this season, including a career-high 26 points against the Indiana Fever in July. She was also an important part of sealing playoff appearance for Dallas. She tallied 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals in 25 minutes to help the Wings defeat the Aces to clinch the final playoff spot.
