UConn Men’s Soccer Forward Austin DaSilva Leaves Team

The Huskies lose a key player just before their season opener.

On the same day UConn men’s soccer opens their season against Lehigh, the Huskies lost a key contributor as The UConn Blog learned that sophomore forward Austin DaSilva left the team.

The reasons for his departure are unknown at this time.

DaSilva was projected to be a big piece of UConn’s attack this season after a strong freshman campaign where he netted two goals and three assists. The void now creates more minutes for Dayonn Harris, Ibrahima Diop and Blaise N’Gague up top.

The Brookfield, Connecticut native joins a fairly sizable exodus from Storrs of players that have eligibility this season that includes junior winger Niko Petridis (St. John’s), sophomore defender Nicolas Apostol (Oregon State) and senior midfielder DeAndrae Brown (UMass).
