In her final rookie diary of the WNBA season, Gabby Williams announced that she is heading to Italy to continue her professional career in the offseason. The former UConn women’s basketball star has signed with Dike Basketball Napoli.

Dike Napoli is part of the Serie 1 league, which is the national women’s basketball club league in Italy. In the 2018 season Napoli finished fourth in the league and lost in the semi-finals to the eventual champions in the playoffs. Stefanie Dolson, Williams’ Chicago Sky teammate and fellow former Husky, has also played for Napoli in the past.

Williams was the fourth overall pick in the WNBA draft this past spring, and will complete her rookie season with the Chicago Sky on Sunday. In her 22.6 minutes per game this season, she has averaged 7.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Her 4.2 rebounds per game ranks fourth among all rookies. Williams also averaged 1.6 steals per game, which ranks second among all WNBA players this season.
