The countdown to Lehigh is officially in single digits. To celebrate, let’s take a look at some team and individual preseason honors that were recently bestowed on the UConn men’s soccer team.

Yesterday, UConn men’s soccer was picked to finish third in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) preseason poll. In addition, senior defender Jacob Hauser-Ramsey was picked as the conference’s preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Overall, three Huskies earned a place on the All-Conference Preseason Team, with Hauser-Ramsey joined by senior forward Abdou Mbacke Thiam and redshirt senior defender Dylan Greenberg as unanimous selections.

The Huskies earned their sixth-consecutive top-three placement since joining the American in 2013, garnering 38 points and one first-place vote. It is the second time in three seasons they have been picked to finish third.

Hauser-Ramsey and Thiam are fresh off junior campaigns that earned them First-Team All-Conference honors. The former led a defense that secured eight shutouts last year, while the latter is the Huskies’ returning leader in goals, bagging 10 last year and good for third in the conference. Greenberg set the tone last year on the left wing as a marauding left-back on the way to a Second Team All-Conference selection.

The Huskies kick off the 2018 regular season with a home opener against Lehigh on Aug. 24, 7 p.m. at Morrone Stadium. Until then, you can get your fix of UConn men’s soccer by catching the squad play Syracuse in an exhibition 7 p.m. this Saturday at Morrone with free admission.
