UConn women’s basketball’s 2018-2019 non-conference schedule was released on Wednesday and the Huskies are not going to be playing at home much. Of the 14 games, just four are true home games (XL Center or Gampel Pavilion games) while another is at Mohegan Sun Arena. Besides that, the remaining nine games are all on the road or at a neutral site.
On top of that, the Huskies have another typically hard schedule. Six teams finished last season in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, including two Final Four teams and five others that made the NCAA Tournament.
The Huskies play two exhibition games against Vanguard and Southern Connecticut before opening the season at home against Ohio State on Nov. 11. They will then head to Uncasville, Connecticut to face Vanderbilt in the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase as the first leg of a home-and-home with the Commodores. Next, they travel to the US Virgin Islands for a three-game set in the Paradise Jam against Ole Miss, St. John’s and Purdue.
They return home to face DePaul on Nov. 28 before heading to South Bend with a rematch against defending national champions Notre Dame on Dec. 2 in the Jimmy V Classic. Two days later, they play at Saint Louis for Napheesa Collier’s homecoming game on Dec. 4.
UConn will finish the first semester on Dec. 8 against Seton Hall at home before resuming play on Dec. 19 at Oklahoma. On Dec. 22, they go west to Cal for Katie Lou Samuelson’s de-facto homecoming game.
The New Year will begin with a road trip to Baylor before the Huskies head into conference play. Their final two non-conference games come at Louisville on Jan. 31 and at home against South Carolina Feb. 11.
The location and times for the games are yet to be announced, although UConn will evenly split their 14 total home games (in and out of conference) between Gampel Pavilion and the XL Center.
