UConn football picked up the third member of its 2019 recruiting class as athlete Jackson Mitchell announced his commitment to the Huskies on Twitter.

A native of Ridgefield, Connecticut, Mitchell plays both strong safety and wide receiver for Ridgefield High, although it is unclear where he’ll play once he gets to Storrs. He is listed at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds and is rated as a two-star prospect by Rivals.

Besides UConn, Michell held offers from a handful of local FCS schools including Central Connecticut, UNH and Fordham among others.

As a junior, Mitchell caught 80 passes for 1,124 yards and 13 touchdowns in 10 games on offense and racked up 38 tackles, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries on defense.

He joins running back Darrin Smith and linebacker Dillon Harris as the other members of the Huskies’ class of 2019.
