After four strong seasons with UConn football, defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi has been invited to the 2018 NFL Combine.
At the moment, NFL.com projects him to be a third or fourth round pick but that could change depending on his performance at the combine as well as UConn’s pro day. His NFL comparison was Abry Jones of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
They list his strengths as “Dense, well-proportioned frame with good muscle mass. Fires out of his stance with good pad level and initial quickness when working in the gaps.” However on the flip side, his weakness are stated as “Production as run defender is average. Lateral movement is nothing special. Has a hard time staying ahead of blocks when plays flow outside.”
If selected, Fatukasi would be the 27th UConn player drafted since 2005 and the second in the last two years. This past season, there were 13 former Huskies on an NFL roster.
Over his UConn career, Fatukasi racked up 170 total tackles, 21 tackles for a loss and 14 sacks in 48 career games.
