UConn men’s hockey is a winner of five straight games after taking victories over No. 16 Boston College and Brown over the weekend. Senior forward Corey Ronan was a big part of those successes and was named Hockey East co-player of the week.

He had three points over the two games, lighting the lamp twice in the home win against the Eagles. He netted the game-winner on a difficult shot from the left circle and also notched a shorthanded goal.

Ronan also had an assist on Jesse Schwartz’ goal on Saturday against Brown and contributed a 9-for-11 penalty killing performance on the weekend, one that was very active during the game against Boston College.

Women’s basketball was also 2-0 and has won 22 straight after going into Colonial Life Arena and dominating No. 7 South Carolina before a 41-point win at home against Cincinnati. Senior Gabby Williams averaged a double-double and the American Athletic Conference named her player of the week.

Williams averaged 13.5 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists per game. On Sunday, she was three assists shy of a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists after a 6-of-8 shooting night in South Carolina, totaling 14 points as well as a team-high 14 rebounds.

Men’s hockey’s only game this week is on the road against No. 11 Northeastern on Friday while women’s basketball plays against UCF in Orlando on Wednesday and at the XL Center on Saturday against Wichita State.
