The former Husky, just won her third WNBA championship and fourth FIBA World Cup gold medal this past summer.
“I’m really excited to join the Denver Nuggets organization,” she said. “I’m thankful for the opportunity and look forward to learning from some of the best.”
Bird’s new boss and Nuggets’ President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly is excited to add her as well.
“Her resume certainly speaks for itself and as a still active player she will offer an extremely unique perspective,” he said.
Bird has previously played overseas during the WNBA offseason, but has not done so since the 2013-14 season. The role on Denver’s staff will serve as a new offseason challenge, as she also prepares to return to the Storm for a 17th season.
