Scary news from UConn football on Monday as the team announced that defensive end/linebacker Eli Thomas was hospitalized last week after suffering a stroke before a lifting session. He is in stable condition and recovering.

“Thank you all for your love and well wishes for Eli,” Thomas’s mother said in a statement. ”To say we are stunned by this turn of events is an understatement! A strong, healthy, 22-year old man having a stroke is not anything we anticipated. However, Eli will fight back as he has with every challenge that has come his way with ‘Eli Style.’”

This likely puts Thomas out for the season, although football is the last thing to worry about after such a medical scare. Hopefully, Thomas will make a full recovery and get back to normal health soon.
