On Monday, the Los Angeles Chargers announced that they were waiving cornerback Jeff Richards and signing former UConn wide receiver Geremy Davis from their practice squad as the corresponding move.
Davis was claimed off waivers by the Chargers midway through 2016 season from the New York Giants and has appeared in 13 games between the two teams since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
He had a strong preseason for Los Angeles, catching nine passes for 68 yards. His nine receptions were the second most on the team during the preseason.
Davis was part of the active roster for Monday’s game against Denver and saw action on offense and special teams. He played six snaps on offense but was not targeted. He also played seven snaps on special teams.
