On Monday, the American Athletic Conference announced their weekly awards for women’s soccer and UConn Huskies freshman forward Kess Elmore was named the rookie of the week for her three-goal performance.
On Thursday against Arkansas, Elmore scored the game-winning, overtime goal in the 98th minute in a 2-1 victory for the Huskies.
On Sunday, Elmore scored twice more against Fordham as part of a 2-2 draw. Her goal exactly 50 minutes into the contest drew first blood and her second tally 12 minutes later put the Huskies up 2-1.
Elmore has now scored five goals in her last three matches.
In addition to Elmore, freshman forward Austin DaSilva was named to the five-man honor roll on the men’s side.
In the Huskies’ lone match, a 1-1 draw against No. 18 Georgetown on Saturday, DaSilva gave the Huskies a lead in the 14th minute with this goal, the first in his career.
Not many things as special as your first collegiate goal!
