Since July 23, Randy Edsall has had an impressive string of commitments. In the past 11 days, a staggering eight players have committed to UConn Football as part of the class of 2018. Edsall already has 16 commitments for 2018, with the latest coming from an offensive lineman from New York in Liam Maloney.

Maloney is from Schenectady and plays offensive tackle for Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons.

Standing at 6-foot-8, 275 pounds, Maloney has plenty of size but was lightly recruited, as his only other offer came from Albany, an FCS school about 20 minutes away from his high school.

He is the third offensive lineman to join the class, preceded by Peter Rooney and Travis Jones, both of whom have committed in the last week.

While Rooney was lightly recruited, Jones had offers from Power Five schools Boston College, Pittsburgh and Temple but elected to stay within the state of Connecticut.
