UConn Football Picked to Finish Last in AAC East

The preseason media poll isn’t expecting much from the Huskies this season.

Judging by the AAC preseason media poll, expectations going into Randy Edsall’s first season back at UConn are low. The Huskies have been picked to finish last in the AAC East in the preseason media poll.

The prediction comes as no surprise considering UConn won just a single conference game last season and finished the season on a six-game losing streak. With the coaching change and the new schemes, it’s fair to wonder if the players will adjust quick enough for this season.

However, if the team is able to pick up the schemes, there’s enough talent on the defense to make the team competitive at the very least. And with an actual offensive scheme now, they may be able to put up enough points to push the Huskies to a bowl.

Around the rest of the conferenceUSF collected all 30 first place votes in the East Division and 26 of 30 possible points to win the conference championship. UCF is picked to finish second and Temple coming in fourth to round out the top three. Meanwhile, Cincinnati and East Carolina are picked finish ahead of UConn.

In the West Division, Memphis received 22 first-place votes while Houston received six. Navy and Tulsa both received one vote each for third and fourth place, respectively. SMU is slated for fifth with Tulane coming in last.

Although Memphis received more votes to win the West, Houston received the second-most votes to win the conference championship with two, while Memphis and Navy both received a single vote.
