Former UConn soccer star Rachel Hill scored her first professional goal on Wednesday night, a header from a cross in the 86th minute.
The goal stood as the game-winner, a feat Hill accomplished 21 times during her career at UConn.
The win could not have come at a better time for the Orlando Pride. They had been struggling as of late but collecting three points with the win instead of one point for the tie is huge, and they can still make a push for the playoffs.
Hill joined the Pride late, as she made sure to graduate before beginning her professional career. She has seen action in four games, including three starts, totaling four shots.
Hopefully, this first goal breaks the ice for Hill and she can start finding the net more often. She’ll have her next chance on Saturday, July 1 as Orlando takes on the Chicago Red Stars.
