Oneil Robinson Signs With UConn Football

The Huskies added two dynamic athletes from Capital Prep in Hartford, including Robinson.

The first-ever early signing period for football began on Wednesday as UConn secured National Letters of Intent from players across the country, even in-state products like Oneil Robinson.

He played at Capital Preparatory Magnet School alongside fellow signee Khyon Gillespie and, like Gillespie, committed in June. Robinson starred at receiver and defensive back in high school and will be playing defense for the Huskies.

Robinson has decent size, listed at 6-foot-3 and 177 pounds with room to gain muscle and that could be an asset. The Huskies were quite notably in the market for help in the secondary and gave many youngsters on the roster playing time.

A two-star prospect on Rivals, Robinson held offers from Army as well as in-state FCS schools Central Connecticut State and Sacred Heart before making his commitment. He caught 50 balls for 1,068 yards in 10 games for Capital Prep his senior year, scoring nine touchdowns to go along with three interceptions as a defensive back.
