Lineman Peter Rooney made his commitment to UConn official on Wednesday, signing his National Letter of Intent to officially be a part of the Huskies’ 2018 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-5, 281-pound Atlanta, Georgia native verbally committed to UConn on July 29 via Twitter. He spent his career at Westminster playing on the offensive line and as a defensive end while serving as the long snapper on special teams. He was a Georgia AAA first-team all-state lineman at Westminster in 2016.

Rooney is rated a 2-star prospect by Rivals and is listed as an offensive tackle, but will likely be tried out at numerous positions on the line once he gets to Storrs.

Rooney received scholarship offers from Cornell and Penn as well as FBS schools such as Appalachian State, FAU, Georgia State and Georgia Southern before committing to UConn.
