What a wild, strange trip it has been. After the disaster that was the 2016 UConn Football season, David Benedict made a change and brought Randy Edsall back to Storrs. It wasn’t exactly the change we expected, and it wasn’t met with immediate excitement, but Husky fans were pretty optimistic by the start of the 2017 season.
The wind really left the sails however as soon as the season kicked off. Randy Edsall’s debut teetered on the brink of a disastrous upset bid from FCS Holy Cross. Anyone who felt the season would be markedly different from seasons past was met with the harsh realization that it would not be the case. Anyone who held out hope was proven wrong after the beatdown at UVA.
So it was a rebuild, not the sneaky decent, low-expectation-beating season we were hoping for.
After that, there were ups and downs, and while it was disappointing to end with three wins, there was also plenty to be pleased with. Recruiting has also been going pretty well.
The question to you, Husky fans: How do you feel about Randy Edsall at the helm of the program? Do you feel he’s moving this thing in the right direction? Are you satisfied with recruiting, what you’ve seen on the field, and the prospects for the future?
Let us know why in the comments!
